Jefferson Community Center is hosting our 2019 Summer Camp, a week in the redwoods at Pamplin Grove from July 8 through July 12.

Camp applications are going on now – Come into Jefferson to pick up an application packet!

The Jefferson Community Center will be hosting our 6th Annual SEEDs Week in the Redwoods at Pamplin Grove on July 8-12, 2019.  Applications are NOW OPEN for camp – see attached pages for your camp application. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday June 7, 2019

Camp is 100% FREE for families living in Westside Eureka (West of H St. and North of Del Norte St.).

About Camp: This is a 4-night, overnighter camp in Pamplin Grove’ rustic old-growth redwood forest along the Van Duzen River. Campers will sleep in tents at night, and will spend their days partaking in myriad fun activities, everything from swimming at the river to making ice cream from scratch, to campfire skits and making their own Tie Dye t-shirts. Campers will also enjoy DELICIOUS professionally cooked meals all throughout the day, with special desserts in the evenings!

Camp will have two programs for campers this year, according to age:

  • Ages 8-12Welcome to camp, campers!
    • Experience camp! This could be your first experience at camp, or you could be a ‘seasoned’ camper, either way SEEDs Week in the Redwoods will be a memory for a lifetime! You will join into teams with other campers, have a team of camp counselors and staff who will lead activities for you during the week, and you’ll have endless opportunities to try new, fun things.
  • Ages 13+ Counselor in Training (CiT)  – NEW PROGRAM!
    • Will accept 3 to 5 teens for an ‘internship’ style boots-on-the-ground professional development experience; it will look great on a resume!
      • Serve as a youth mentor for younger campers
      • Help camp counselors and staff to organize and lead camp activities
      • Act as a ‘team leader’ for camper teams during the week
      • Get an opportunity to learn from professional counselors and camp administrators
      • Create new traditions for the new CiT program!
      • Get a small stipend & gift for successfully completing CiT!

Families are invited! Families of campers are invited to attend camp as well! We have reserved the entire Pamplin Grove campground, and there is plenty of space for families to drive in and enjoy camp. Camp is intended to be both a real camp experience for the kids and a retreat for the families, so you’ll likely only see your kids at meal times & at campfire in the evenings! You will get to eat DELICIOUS food during the day, and you’ll get to enjoy the wonderful redwood forest! Family Members of campers can stay for a day or for the whole week, just let us know ahead of time what works for you. We may ask you to help with a few basic tasks during camp, according to your ability level 🙂

ALCOHOL & DRUG-FREE CAMP: Alcohol and drug use are expressly forbidden at camp, which includes any attending families as well.

This is camping, NOT ‘glamping’! Pamplin Grove has outhouses only.  Children/families will be required to bring all tents, sleeping bags, and equipment necessary for a 4-night camping excursion. If your family needs help with getting a tent, sleeping bag, or any equipment for camp, let our program admin know as soon as possible (contact info in application).

Camp Logistics: CAMPER DROP-OFF IS AT 9 AM SHARP, AT JEFFERSON ON MONDAY 7/8! We will be carpooling from The Jefferson Community Center on Monday July 8th, 2019, at 10am promptly.  Being ready to go at 10 is extremely important.  All youth participants (both campers and CiT) in the SEEDs camp must caravan with the entire group from Jefferson.

We will be packing up and leaving Pamplin Grove the morning of Friday July 12th and carpooling back to Jefferson Community Center where the campers will be returned to their guardians/parents at 12 Noon.  Parents MUST be at Jefferson Community Center to receive their children by 12 Noon on Friday 7/12.

If you have a reliable, insured vehicle and would like to volunteer to carpool, please contact our program administrators at 707.497.6280.
